When Lyssa’s mother died, so did the magic – that special something that always made the sunflowers grow taller and the strawberry jelly taste sweeter. Now that her mother is gone, Lyssa struggles to get used to a life of the Ordinary with her kind but clueless stepfather in Kirkland, Washington. But secretly, she longs for change.
Then one day change does come, when the most peculiar occurrence brings Lyssa alarming news about her childhood home. Fiercely determined, Lyssa climbs onto her scooter, Zip, and sets off cross-country to save her home.
On her odyssey, Lyssa meets some decidely unusual people, from rowdy cowgirls to a chorus line of singing mermaids. With new friends by her side and the winds of change at her back, Lyssa discovers adventure at every turn – and uncovers her mother’s magic, little by little, all along the way.

I dunno I like my little volkswagen, I don’t think I would choose something that didn’t give me heat or cooling system when I needed it. Plus it’s a convertible so I still get the opportunity to put the top down when I want to “let loose”

I was totally going to say a vespa before I scrolled and saw the picture! I love my beat up little Corolla, but I grew up in Europe so vespas are a fun, special little memory for me 🙂

I like my own two feet! Driving terrifies me, I can only kind of ride a bike, and I spend like two hours a day on the subway so I’m pretty over it. But I love walking!
I did T B and P, and I’m really quite boring, i just prefer my car. If i could get places without any hassle on my bike, i’d probably prefer that though.
I love roller skates and skateboards. Somehow they seem a bit more stable than scooters.

I’m really digging that scooter, but I suppose if I had to pick a favorite wheeled mode of transportation I’d just go with the bus. Since I’m a city dweller I rarely use wheeled vehicles and I don’t currently have a working bike.

This story sounds so cute! I love the idea of just taking off (though I don’t have an awesome scooter, I do have some roller blades and a bike named Cherry). Absolutely adorable story idea! And I got watery eyes when I read “uncovers her mother’s magic, little by little, all along the way.”

Mine would be the tube 🙂 I have motion sickness so buses are out of the question for me. I’ve never been on or tried a scooter before but I’d love to! But at the moment, I’d say it’s the tube. Or trains. Both are great – and fast.

I loved scooters when I was little 🙂 but now I think it would be fun to ride a motorcycle (or skateboard) to school. But that’s just realistically… if I could pick any mode of transportation (fantasy wise) I’d opt for a magical flying carpet or even a dragon 😉
